How To Play AI-Block Puzzles

How to solve AI-Puzzle (Flipping & Switching)

The AI-Puzzle is solved by performing a combination of flipping and/or switching of AI-Units so as to transform an initial mixed-up configuration into the final desired configuration of the puzzle being solved.

Flipping is performed by pressing either the Flip A or Flip B button, and then double tapping the desired AI-Unit to be flipped. Note: when an AI-Unit is flipped, the geometric structure of the puzzle is preserved due to the symmetry of the AI-Units.

Switching the position of an AI-Unit with an AI-Unit of the same type (A or B) is performed by pressing the Switch A (or Switch B) button, and then double tapping the units A (or units B) to be switched. The edges of the units to be switched are outlined with a silver color after being double tapped. Note: upon selecting the AI-Units to be switched, the user will be prompted to confirm the switch (selected AI-Units trade places) or cancel the action (selected AI-Units are deselected).

Scoring:

The user is evaluated on how efficiently he/she solves the puzzle. This efficiency is measured by two metrics: the amount of time and the number of moves that the user takes in order to solve the puzzle (Fastest Time and Fewest Moves).

Time: The time is measured from when the user begins to play an AI-Puzzle to when the user solves the AI-Puzzle. The time elapsed may be paused by the user at any given time, but must be active in order for the user to perform flips and switches.  For each AI-Puzzle solved, the shortest time elapsed to solve the AI-Puzzle will be recorded along with the corresponding number of moves it took to solve the puzzle.

Moves: Each action (flip or switch) performed while playing the AI-Puzzle is counted as one move. For each AI-Puzzle solved, the fewest moves used to solve the AI-Puzzle will be recorded along with the corresponding time it took to solve the puzzle.

Game Play - View Modes:

During game play, each puzzle may be displayed for the user in one of two views: Solution mode and Puzzle mode.

In Solution mode, the user is viewing the AI-Units in the desired configuration in order to solve the puzzle.

In Puzzle mode, the user is viewing the AI-Units in a mixed up configuration that is to be rearranged by the user into the desired configuration.

Once the configuration of the AI-Units in Puzzle mode matches the configuration of the AI-Units in Solution mode, the AI-Puzzle has been solved.
